Barry Purkis a.k.a Thunderstick, the respected second drummer of our favourite rock band Iron Maiden, and later with Samson, went backstage at a British Lions gig in Folkestone - England - to meet up with his former band member Seve Harris. Thunderstick shared the news of his find of a 1977 tape that he made at Scarf Studios just two weeks after he first played with Maiden. Steve Harris simply smiled and said "Yeah?.......Fantastic!!!"
Since that day - Friday 2nd December 2016 - A day that we should all be grateful for, Thunderstick has released several clips of tracks from the tape. The sound isn't recording studio perfect, as you might expect from a rehearsal studio recording but the sound is unmistakably Iron Maiden. Early unpolished Iron Maiden but Iron Maiden nonetheless.
